Iowa may not immediately stir the emotions re: golf destinations, but it should, thanks mainly to a hidden gem in middle-of-nowhere Rhodes, IA (population 305). The Harvester Golf Club hosted rounds 2 and 3 of the 7th annual K2K (along with the KC vs ICT Challenge) and may unexpectedly go down as one of the best K2K’s ever.
The gents made the drive from KC to Legacy Golf Club in Des Moines for the the opening nerve-filled round, which resulted in a 1 stroke lead for Andy Ek. After the round the group completed the trek to The Harvester, where the real fun began.

Upon entering the property on a chamber-of-commerce weather day in peak golfing season, the K2Kers were concerned to see not a car in the parking lot. The guys dropped their clubs and made their way into the picturesque clubhouse, only to find it empty. Finally, a single employee makes his way out of the back and asks “are you guys the foursome?” THE foursome? What ensued was an incredible 2 days of golfing in which only 2 other groups were even seen on the course. One of the days featured 44 holes played where the K2Kers were given free reign over the course and simply asked to “park the carts back at the clubhouse when you’re done”.

Terry Blunt recorded the first under-par 9 holes in K2K history en route to a win, his 4th K2K Cup in 5 years and 3rd in a row. The KC crew (Ben Thompson and Terry Blunt) also won the first KC vs ICT challenge on a heated match that was completed just before sundown.
