K2K8 – Arkansas

The Havoc in Hot Springs Village was won by Andy Ek, who captured his second K2K Cup Championship by going 3-0 in match play during the K2K’s first match play event. The guys endured the steamy Arkansas heat on some of the better tracks that Hot Springs Village has to offer. A Lake Cortez waterfront retreat offered some much needed relief from the soaring temps that weekend, although Chris Graham’s big plans for catching his dinner proved to be futile. The shot of the tournament may have been Andy’s miraculous flop shot up and down from the forest (assist to the local marshal who luckily found the ball). The shot was a turning point in the Ek vs Graham match.

K2K7 – Iowa

Iowa may not immediately stir the emotions re: golf destinations, but it should, thanks mainly to a hidden gem in middle-of-nowhere Rhodes, IA (population 305). The Harvester Golf Club hosted rounds 2 and 3 of the 7th annual K2K (along with the KC vs ICT Challenge) and may unexpectedly go down as one of the best K2K’s ever.

The gents made the drive from KC to Legacy Golf Club in Des Moines for the the opening nerve-filled round, which resulted in a 1 stroke lead for Andy Ek. After the round the group completed the trek to The Harvester, where the real fun began.

K2K4 – Maryland

Ben Thompson won his first K2K Cup on the group’s first trip out to the East Coast – the former home of K2K member Chris Graham, who lived in D.C. at the time. The 4th annual event was hosted by the following courses:

Queenstown Harbor – Lakes Course

The Bay Club – East

Renditions

The trip was also marked by a unique moment in American history, the death of Osama Bin Laden. This was made more memorable by the fact that when it happened the guys were all in Washington, D.C., having just wrapped up K2K4 when the news broke.

K2K3 – Oklahoma

Ooooooooklahoma where the wind comes sweepin’ down the plain. This was certainly the case on day 1 in steamy Tulsa, OK @ The Hard Rock Casino & Hotel. Thunderstorms almost ruined day 1 @ the on-site Cherokee Hills Golf Club, but the gents were determined and played through some pretty rainy conditions. Terry Blunt got out to a big 8 stroke lead after day 1 and never looked back en route to his first K2K Cup victory.

Day 2 and 3 were hosted by Bailey Ranch and Battle Creek. The golf may not have been the best during K2K3, but the stories will go down in history…lost teeth, hotel security chases and pine sol all contributed to a memorable event in the Sooner State.
